Abstract:—Puya farallonensis (Bromeliaceae, Puyoideae) is described as a new species from Farallones de Cali National Natural Park, located in the department of Valle del Cauca, Colombia. This species resembles other Puya species from Colombia and Ecuador, such as P. antioquensis and P. angelensis, but can be distinguished by its reduced number of racemes and its white to yellow petals. Puya farallonensis is currently known from a single population found at approximately 3500 m.a.s.l. on the summit of the National Park, where it grows terrestrially in open, shrubby vegetation. Although it inhabits a protected area, the populations of P. farallonensis may be at high risk due to the ongoing threat of illegal mining activities in the region, thus we proposed it as ?Critically Endangered'.
