Tillandsia kegeliana, a rare jewel of the Amazon

Abstract:—Not many Tillandsia species are growing in the Amazon area of South America, and one of the smaller and spectacular species is Tillandsia kegeliana Mez (1896). It grows sympatric with another nice species, T. paraensis Mez (1894). It is quite rare, or at least not easy to spot or collect and there are only about 60 specimens known in herbaria.
