Abstract:—The red flowering Brazilian Tillandsia species are very popular in collections of the serious Tillandsia collectors. The late Renate Ehlers (1997) wrote a nice little book about them and Tillandsia kautskyi E.Pereira (1974) is one of the smallest species of the group. It was named after Roberto Kautsky, bromeliad collector in Brazil. It is not difficult to grow, not even from seed and can stand temperatures of about 14oC when kept dry.
