Abstract:—Unexpected and shocking news reached me that a friendship and close collaboration of over 40 years had come to an end forever. In the early hours of that morning, Eddie Esteves Pereira had succumbed to a sudden, violent dengue fever in Goiânia in the state of Goiás (Brazil). Eddie Esteves Pereira was born in Trindade in Goiás (Brazil) on November 30, 1939, the son of Analia Rosa Pereira from Trindade and Santiago Esteves Júnior from Spain. Eddie was married to Lindevalda Borges Pereira for over 62 years, and together they had five sons: Edward, Charles, Richard, Herbert and Michael.
