Abstract:—One new species of Aechmea (Bromeliaceae) from Ecuador is described and illustrated. Aechmea skotakii from the province of Zamora-Chinchipe in the southeast Ecuador is related to Aechmea biflora (L.B. Sm.) L.B. Sm. & M.A. Spencer. Distinguishing characteristics of the new species are provided.
