Abstract:—On Australia Day, 26 January, 2022, it was announced nationally that Derek and Margaret Butcher had each been awarded one of Australia’s highest civilian honours, the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for ‘service to bromeliad horticulture’. On behalf of bromeliad enthusiasts around the world, a number of their bromeliad colleagues have offered the following tributes and congratulations, in recognition of this highly deserved award.
