Abstract:—Each plant has the ability to adapt to the biotic and abiotic environmental conditions it grows in. This adaptation is limited by characteristics encoded by the genes, which we call 'genotype'. Individual plants of the same species can look different under different circumstances, which we call 'variation' and this variable expression of the genes we call 'phenotype.' Thus the appearance (phenotype) of a plant can look very different to another plant sharing the same genes (genotype).
