Observations on Tillandsia kammii Rauh

Abstract:—Tillandsia kammii is a nice small silvery species described by Rauh in 1977. It was compared in the diagnose with Tillandsia ionantha Planchon (1855), to which it is obviously not closely related. It resembles Tillandsia plagiotropica Rohweder (1953) the most, which has about the same habit and inflorescence, but the later has cream colored floral bracts and white corolla and seems to be an albino form of T.kammii. Phylogenetic research showed that it forms a clade with T. hondurensis, as well as T. plagiotropica and T. velutina (Pinzón et al. 2015), which morphological make sense
