Abstract:—When one visits distant countries several times within a couple of years, it is exciting to see how the country has changed in the meantime. Between 1993 and 2015 I was in Costa Rica three times. Each trip was somewhat different even though the route itself varied only little. But the impression of country and people was never the same. On the last trip I made to the Central American country in 2015 I brought my wife and children along. Before that I had been there with friends and so I felt it was time to let my next of kin share these experiences, too. Because the children were going to school, we had to go during vacation. We flew in July over the Atlantic. The best time to travel to Costa Rica is normally the beginning of the year but in July the rainy season takes a brief pause.
