Abstract:—A taxonomic revision of the genus Viridantha Espejo is provided, Viridantha is also considered by some authors as Tillandsia subgenus Viridantha s. str. Fourteen species are recorded for the genus. The new combinations Viridantha boqueronensis (Ehlers) Hern.-Cárdenas, Espejo y López-Ferr., V. grandispica (Ehlers) Hern.-Cárdenas, Espejo y López-Ferr., and V. teloloapanensis (Ehlers y Lautner) Hern.-Cárdenas, Espejo y López-Ferr. are exposed. We propose rise to specific rank to T. atroviridipetala Matuda var. yagulensis Ehlers with the name V. yagulensis (Ehlers) Hern.- Cárdenas, Espejo y López-Ferr. V. rzedowskiana Hern.-Cárdenas, Espejo y López-Ferr., is proposed as new to science. A key to the taxa, morphological descriptions, a list of specimens examined, ecological data, taxonomic comments, and distribution maps are given for all the taxa. In 6 of the species, no specimens with fruit were found.
