A new species of Tillandsia (Bromeliaceae) from Loja, Southern Ecuador

Abstract:—A new species of Tillandsia subgenus Allardtia from the Province Loja, Ecuador, closely related to T. macrodactylon Mez, is described and illustrated here. The new species can easily be distinguished by its larger size, rosette with abundant foliage, light green in color. Its main characteristics are the violet coloration of the apex of the leaves and violet coloration of the inflorescence.
