German title:—Eine neue, isoliert wachsende Encholirium Art aus dem Norden von Goiás (Zentral-Brasilien): Encholirium josinoi-narcisae
Abstract:—As outlined in previous articles (Braun & Esteves 2017, Esteves 2017) the carstic Bambui limestones in in the Brazilian states of Minas Gerais, Bahia, Goiás and Tocantins bear several species of endemic Encholirium, restricted to single, isolated habitats or at least very limited areas. When starting his botanical work in the very early 1970s Eddie Esteves Pereira from Goiânia discovered many interesting new species in at that time still very wild areas of northern Goiás. Among these species are two yellow flowering species of Encholirium. Meanwhile one was described as Encholirium eddie-estevesii Leme & Forzza (2002). The other one is a new distinctive and decorative species, described in this paper as Encholirium josinoi-narcisae. This new species occurs exclusively on outcrops of limestones of the Bambui series, more or less hidden far inside a large farm. The owners of this “fazenda” are the engineer Dr. Josino Carvalho Cordeiro and his sister, the architect Maria Narcisa de Abreu Cordeiro Pires. They are conservationists to the extreme, and for decades do not allow setting fires in their properties and even visiting the calcareous hills is not welcome as a precaution to avoid native plants being trampled. Collecting plants is strongly forbidden. In fact the fazenda is a huge cattle farm, visits are very restricted and if accepted controlled. Free movement is only allowed the “vaqueiros” (Cowboys).
