Abstract:—If you search for “Tillandsia stricta” on my page at Flickr (https://www.flickr.com/photos/luizfilipevarella/ albums), you will find up to now, 451 pictures of T. stricta. The beautiful Tillandsia stricta Sol. has always been one of my favorite Tillandsia species and is one of the most photogenic species overall. Tillandsia stricta has many very charming and attractive color variations and fortunately it is still easy to find the plant in situ – in the woods of my state, Rio Grande do Sul (South Brazil), even in old trees in the streets and sidewalks of my city Porto Alegre. We are talking about one of the most known Tillandsia species, described in 1813. It has an extensive area of occurrence – one of the largest occurrences of a Tillandsia species in South America. Its wide distribution includes a great part of the Brazilian territory, reaching down to Paraguay, Argentina and Bolivia.
