Alcantarea heloisae (Bromeliaceae), a new species from Rio de Janeiro State

Abstract:—Alcantarea, heloisae J. R. Giant is described as a new species from the state of Rio de Janeiro. bringing the total number of currently recognized species in the genus to 18. Its morphological relationship with A. odorata (Leme) J. R. Giant and A. nahoumii (Leme) J. R. Grant is also discussed.
