Abstract:—For the last 30 years, a prominent species of Mexican Tillandsia has been under supervision, It is similar to and often confused with T. oaxacana L.B. Sm., but differs from this species, e.g., by a smaller habit, conspicuously black leaf sheaths, leaves which are covered by grey, appressed lepidote hairs, and a different inflorescence. It was found widely distributed in the Mexican State of Oaxaca, at elevations of 2lOO-2500 m. Despite occurring at the same elevation as T. oaxacana, it was not found growing sympatrically with the latter, but rather with T. carlos-hankii Matuda. The new species is named for this similarity as T. pseudooaxacana Ehlers.
