Abstract:—T. markusii is a new species growing on rocks in Argentina, near Brealito. Due to the local climate at 2700 m with temperatures even below freezing point at night it is an extremely slow grower: Related to T argentina anti T friesii it differs from T argentina by shiny grey canaliculate and prominently nerved leaves with thin, soft tips; larger spike, the flexuous rhachis; the green, larger flower bracts and larger flowers; from T friesii by the very short stein; much longer and narrow, shiny leaves; the much broader spike, longer flower bracts, sepals and petals which are acute at the apex.
