Abstract:—During our trip to Mexico in March 1979, we spent two nights in Aramberri, a village in Nuevo Leon, close to the Sierra de Zaragossa in the northeastern part of the country. One evening in our small hotel we met a group of seven Ger mans who had been hunting for cactus. We spent a nice time together talking about plants. When one of the ladies heard that I was interested in tillandsias, she gave me two plants she had found. One of them looked like Tiltandsia karwinskyana, the other one was caulescent, 5 cm in diameter and 15 cm long, with grey leaves. At first glance I thought it might be T albida
