Tillandsia imporaensis R. EHLERS spec. nov.

Abstract:—A new species T. imporaensis is described. lt is growing in Bolivia near Abra Negra, elevation 3050 m. on deciduous trees together with T. capillaris. The plant is similar to T. sphaerocephala, but differs in following characteristics: leaves more secund; scape much longer and visible; scape bracts almost glabrous. red at base; inflorescence longer and broader, elliptic, not globose; spikes more narrow, stipitate, spreading, the apical one subpolystichous; primary bracts red, the lower ones with filiform blades, the upper ones shorter than the spikes; the upper floral bracts almost non-carinate, red; sepals more connate; petals thicker. broader; stamens longer.
