Abstract:—During the past two and one half years T have concentrated my exploration to two canyons near the town of Tlaxiaco in westem Oaxaca. This primarily Mixtec Indian region is known for its many Spanish missions. It is also an intriguing area for tillandsias. On my first trip to the region with Alfredo Lau, we discovered sev eral new species of Tillandsia. The description of one, Tillandsia rhodocephaÏa, follow
