Abstract:—The new Tillandsia species described in this article was discovered already in 1988 by Horst Gieseke from Gymich, Kurt Böhme, Pulheim, and Wolfgang Zschorsch, Waldenburg, together with some other cactus lovers. The group of collectors cited the location as “on the river at Coxcatlan, about 6 km upstream”. Mr. Gieseke noticed then already that this tillandsia was different from the other plants occurring in this area. He thought it belonged to theTillandsia juncea-complex (comp. Rauh 1990: 163, Abb. 159).
