Abstract:—This species, earlier described as T. capitata var. guzmanioides L.B.SMITH has got now the status of a species. lt differs from T. capitata by its slightly bulbous habit, dark green leaves and dark brown sheets, smaller and thin flower bracts which are shorter than the sepals; by almost free sepals and included stamens. From T. sierrajuarezensis by lts shorter spikes (only 2-flowered), longer pnmary bracts, much shorter punctulate lepidote flower bracts, longer, two-coloured petals (violet with white base and tip) and included stamens.
