Abstract:—A preliminary species checklist of the family Bromeliaceae which occur in Rio de Janeiro State, Brazil, is presented, as well as geographic distribution, habitats and degree of endemism of 245 species. These data were obtained from the available literature and by consulting the main herbaria in the State.
