Abstract:—A short-leaved variety of Werauhia insignis has been observed for many years in Panama. It was also recognized by Harry Luther as novel who gave it the provisional name ‘brevifolia’. Here, the taxon is formally described as Werauhia insignis var. brevifolia H. Luther ex J.R.Grant, in this tribute issue to Harry Luther
