Abstract:—Two new species of Tillandsia are described.
Tillandsia sierrajuarenzensis from the top of Sierra «le Juarez, Oaxaca, resembles T. violacea but has a shorter scape and it is curved not ascending, the inflorescence is quite different. When it was first observed it was thought it was a form of T. prodigiosa with shorter inflo-rescence, but the scape is curved and the spikes are so thickly set at the end that it almost looks as if it was capitated; the scape curves downward and so it never appears like. T. prodigiosa, where the scape really hangs since the begining.
In Mexico there are several species cf. Tillandsia with long erect ascending scapes: T. bourgaeui, T. violacea, T. dugesii, T. ponderosa and T. intumescens, but only one species with a long descending scape has been reported, Tillandsia prodigiosa, whose inflorescence is 2-3 feet long or more. This new species has been seen in several localities in Oaxaca but always in the cloud forest growing on oaks or pines at altitudes between 6,000 and 7,000 feet.
Tillandsia palmasolana, from Palma Sola. Ve-racruz, growing 1,200 feet above sea level, re-sembles T. tricolor, but it is smaller and has rigid coriaceus, narrowly triangular, caniculate. subulate, gray scaled leaves and much shorter curved scape.Published names (2):Tillandsia palmasolana * * synonyms or not accepted names are marked
