Observations: —Comparisons of living and herbarium specimens show that M. malvernii differs from M. guatemalensis in having smaller rosettes (less than 70 cm diam.), spiky inflorescences or less-branched panicles (1- or 2-divided vs. 2- or 3-divided), with stipes less than 4 cm long (vs. up to 10 cm), with conspicuous floral bracts, and longer sepals and petals.Edited from : Romero et al. 2022.
