Diagnose: —A simili T. ixioides floribus magnis, longitubulosis, aureiluteis, foliis crassis dense ferrugineo lepidotis distinguitur. Breviter caulescens, usque ad 300 mm alta. Folia multa planiuscule rosulata, ad 250 mm longa, rigidula, e vagina vix ultra 20 mm lata in apicem subfiliformi-acutissimum persensim angustata, utrinque densissime lepidotibus maximis obtecta ferruginosaque. Scapus longis, foliis longior, dense lepidotus, vaginis erectis ovato-lanceolatis, omnibus in laminas longas subfiliformes productis, densissime lepidotis indutus. Inflorescentia pauciflora, laxiuscule spicata, folia aequans vel paullo superans, flores vix ultra 9 laxe dispositis gerentibus, laxe pinnatis, geniculatis, bracteis primarias superantibus, suberectis, usque ad 30 mm longis composita, usque ad 40 mm longa et 20 mm diametiens; axibus densissime lepidotoferrugineis; bracteis primariis conspicuis, ellipticis, acutis, dorso dense lepidotis; bracteis florigeris ad 10 mm distantibus, dorso ochraceis, quam sepala manifeste longioribus, cum floribus suberectis, ellipticis, acutis, ad 20 mm longis, haud carinatis, sepala involventibus. Flores ad 60 mm longi; sepalis subaliquater liberis, dorso pauce lepidotis, subellipticis, late acutis ad 10 mm longis. Petala aureiflava, laminis ovatis, per anthesin optime patentibus. Stamina petalis subduplo breviora. Stylum elongatum. Stigma parvum. PATRIA ET DISTRIBUTIO: Bolivia department Chuquisaca: saxetum verticalium prope urbi Valle Grande 1400m supra mare.

Observations: —Differs from similar T. ixioides in having much bigger golden-yellow flowers with long tube, succulent leaves covered with rusty scales.
