Aechmea aciculosa Mez & Sodiro[as Aechmea aciculosa Mez & Sodiro]

Observations: —OBSERVATIONS. This species has been frequently confused with Ronnbergia columbiana, from which it differs in the large size of the plant and the shape of the flowers, and with Ronnbergia nidularioides, from which it differs in the cylindrical inflorescence not submerged in the center of the rosette. The holotype in Berlin was destroyed during World War II; the isotype is in the Sodiro Herbarium (QPLS) in Quito, Ecuador.
