<- Neoregelia stolonifera L.B.Sm.[as Neoregelia stolonifera L. B. Smith,]

Observations: —This species is distinguished by its vegetative growth, where two rosettes are produced from an old one, bifurcating both stolons from the base of the old rosette. This species tend to produce rosettes of different sizes, depending on the forests it inhabits. Those plants coming from andean foothill forests of the Amazon tend to produce larger rosettes with softer leaves than those coming from Amazon macrothermic forests.

This species may be related to N. myrmecophila but the study of different populations is necessary in order to establish the true phylogenetic relationships.
