Mezobromelia brownii H.Luther[as Mezobromelia brownii Luther]

Diagnose: —A M. fulgens L. B. Smith, cui affinis, spicis percompactis, bracteis florigeris, sepalis petalisque permajioribus differt.

Observations: —From the related M. fulgens, this new species can be distinguished by its much more densely flowered ultimate branches and much longer floral bracts [35-38 mm vs. 25 mm], sepals [33-35 mm vs. 21 mm] and petals [60 mm vs. 40 mm].
