<- Vriesea belloi Leme[as Vriesea belloi Leme]

Observations: —This new species is similar to V. funebris L. B. Smith, but differs in that
Scape abruptly curved down with the almost erect inflorescence. Such a characteristic was verified not only in flowering specimens in nature, but in about 20 specimens that bloomed in cultivation by Renato Bello and Roberto Menescal without the use of any chemicals.

Still, we can mention other characteristics that distinguish V. belloi from V. funebris, which are
Branches with basal flowers well apart before anthesis,
Floral bracts exceeded by the sepals;
Petals obovate with apex emarginate, with jagged ligulae.
