Diagnose: —Diagnosis: Bakerantha hidalguense is similar to B. tillandsioides, but differs in its smaller rosettes, shorter leaves (15–55 vs. 60–185 cm long), leaves sparsely to densely trichomatose on both surfaces (vs. glabrous above and sparsely lepidote below), a lax inflorescence once to twice branched (vs. dense and 2–3 branched), with longer petals (4–6 vs 3.5–4 mm), and petals slightly reflexed during anthesis in the female flowers (vs. strongly recurved).
