plant rupicolous or saxicolous, flowering ca 55 cm tall, propagating by many suberect stolons arising from the external naked base, 10–25 cm long, 0.5–1 cm in diameter, densely covered by suberect subfoliaceous cataphylls, propagating also by abundant hairy adventitious offsets produced on the senescent basal portion of the stem not covered by leaves. leaves 12 to 19, suberect, subchartaceous, forming at base an ellipsoidal to narrowly funnelform rosette; sheath oblong-elliptic, 8–10 x 5 cm, densely white to brown-lepidote, green toward the apex, sometimes dark castaneous near the base; blade narrowly triangular, canaliculate, 10–15 cm long, 2.5–2.7 cm wide at base, green, densely white-lepidote, trichomes not at all concealing blade color, margins truncate, apex acuminate-caudate. inflorescence: peduncle suberect, 25–32 cm long, 3–4 mm in diameter, rigid, green, glabrous; peduncle bracts the basal ones subfoliaceous, the upper ones broadly ovate-triangular, apex slenderly caudate and recurved (median ones) to obtuse (upper ones), 13–20 x 10–12 mm, erect, enfolding the peduncle, inconspicuously white-lepidote to glabrescent, distinctly shorter than the internodes; fertile part simple, lax, suberect, 7–11 cm long, rachis terete, geniculate, green, glabrous, ca 3 mm in diameter, internodes 15–25 mm long; floral bracts suborbicular, obtuse, 10–13 x 9–12 mm, base truncate, partially enfolding the pedicels, ecarinate, green, glabrescent, rugulose, equaling to slightly exceeding 'the pedicels, secund with the flowers. flowers 3 to 5, distichously arranged, distinctly secund before and after the anthesis, 35–40 mm long (when petals extended), emitting a weak garlic odor, anthesis nocturnal, pedicels 11–14 mm long, ca 4 mm in diameter at base and ca 7 mm in diameter at apex, green, glabrous; sepals broadly obovate, apex obtuse to emarginate, 17–18 x 11 mm, very inconspicuously and sparsely white-lepidote inside, green except for the purplish-wine margins, free, ecarinate, convex, thin in texture toward the apex and margins; petals obovate-spatulate, apex narrowly emarginate, 34 x 15–16 mm, free, subspreading-recurved at anthesis and forming a campanulate corolla ca 30 mm in diameter, pale yellowish-green, bearing at base 2 subspatulate, irregularly bidentate to acuminate, ca 7 x 3 mm appendages adnate at base to the petals for ca 4 mm. stamens distinctly shorter than the corolla, nearly equaling to shorter than the stigma; anther linear, 6–7 mm long, base obtusely sagittate, apex obtuse and apiculate, dorsifixed near the base. pistil: stigma convolute-bladed, 1.5 mm in diameter, green, densely papillose; ovules long caudate. fruits unknown.
