plant flowering up to 60 cm high (inflorescence extended, short stolons. leaves suberect or moderately curved, forming a rosette to 35 cm diam., pale green, suffused pink, appressed lepidote sheath ovate, moderately distinct, up to 8 cm long, 4 cm wide, margins entire; blade linear-sub triangular, acuminate, canaliculate, to 30 cm long, to 30 mm wide, edges sub-dense serrulate. inflorescence: peduncle bent, to 35 cm long, terete, 4 mm diam., peduncle bracts erect, lanceolate, more or less as long as the internodes, membranaceous, purple, well spaced lepidote at the tip; fertile part simple, laxly few flowered, ca 10 cm long, hanging. flowers sessile to 75 mm long; floral bracts very indistinct, the minutest triangle, purple; sepals free, ovate lanceolate, acute, 25 mm long, to 7 mm wide, yellowish green, tip blue; petals sub-lingulate, rounded and slightly emarginate, 50m long, to 9 mm wide, inside 2 long callouses and at the base 2 almost 4 sided ligules which are truncate and crenulate, blades bending outwards, pale greenish yellow, edges blue stamens with the style well exserted, ca as long as the petals; anthere linear, to 7 mm long, joined almost at the base. pistil: style to 60 mm long, terete; stigma sub-erect, 6 mm long, moderately divergent and irregularly curved; ovary sub-cylindric, to 17 mm long, 6 mm diam., pale green, sulcate; placenta sub-apical epigynous tube very distinct.
