; 0 produced leaves 5–6 in a utricular rosette, connivent in the lower half foot, eusiform, 1 ½ –2 ft; 1 long, ¾ –1 in; 2 broad at the middle, green on the face, thinly white-lepidote on the back, moderately firm in texture, narrowed gradually to the point, the marginal prickles distinct, spreading, deltoid. inflorescence: peduncle slender, a foot long; all the bract-leaves erect. flowers 6–12 in a lax cernuous spike, with a slender very flexuose naked rachis, all subsessile and only minutely bracteated. pistil: ovary oblong-cylindrical, naked, shallowly sulcate, 1/3 in; long; sepals linear-oblong, obtuse, 5/8–3/4 in; long; petals 1 ¾ in; long, greenish with a blue tip. stamens a little shorter than the petals.
