; 0 produced leaves 8–10 in a rosette, ensiform from an ovate base, 1 ½ ft; 1 long, an inch broad at the middle, thin in texture, plain dark green on the face, uniform claret-brown all over the back, the marginal teeth minute. flowers in an oblong capitulum placed at the top of the utriculus of the rosette. pistil: ovary with calyx bright red; petals whitish, exserted 1/3 – 1/2 in.
