plant ± stemless leaves very narrow triangular, scales, 20–50 mm long peduncle to 50 mm long, as for the typical variety flower bracts broad ovate, wide tipped, scaled, 9–10- nerved, 4.5–5 mm long, 4–5 mm wide, sepala wide lanceolate, in the upper 1/3 lax scaled, (5-) 7–8-nerved, 6.5–7 mm long, 2.5–3 mm wide, equally almost free, petals tongue shaped, the tip(generally) somewhat wider, 7 nerved, 10–11 mm long, 1.5–2 mm wide, with raphides, coffee brown or seldom yellow, anthers 1–1.1 mm long, 0.25–0.3 mm Ø, filament basifixed, whitish, 1-nerved, 2.6–3.6 mm long, 0.15 mm wide, ovary inverted conical-cylindrical, style 1/3 – ½ as wide as the ovary, about 2/3 as long as the ovary. pistil: stigma flat, capitate; gynoeceum 3.1–3.3 mm long, scent noticeable.
