plant with a narrow-crateriform or (sub-) spreading, 12–32 cm tall rosette (rarely taller). leaves 10–38 cm long, the outer ones rarely much reduced; sheath suborbicular or broadly ovate, not over 15 cm long, densely and minutely appressed-lepidote; blade arching, ligulate, broad¬ly rounded or obtuse. inflorescence with spreading branches; peduncle subglabrous; axis often (sub-) straight; rachis sparsely lepidote. flowers: sepals 4.5–6 mm long, sparsely lepidote in part.
