- Opmerking (10865): Bruce Dunstan (2013-02-24) - Carol the seed came from Eric via Peter Tristram. I just grew it. (Verzonden: brom-l@science.uu.nl)
- Opmerking (10865): Uncle Derek (2013-02-24) - Looks like we now have at least two forms of this variable species in Australia (Verzonden: brom-l@science.uu.nl)
- Opmerking (10865): Carol Evans (2013-02-24) - this seed was given to Bruce Dunstan not collected by him
- Determinatie (10865): Eric Gouda (2013-02-25) =Pitcairnia atrorubens
- I think we are growing something like that as Pitcairnia atrorubens from Costa Rica (Verzonden: brom-l@science.uu.nl)
- Opmerking (10865): Uncle Derek (2013-02-26) - Whoops. Carol tells me that this plant came from Bruce Dunstan who got the plant from Peter Tristram who got the seed from, Guess who, Eric Gouda as P. riparia. It has spiny offsets which agees with P. riparia. The other plant called Congon has been in Australia for years and was originally called Condor but identified as P. riparia. Therefore we are now looking at two forms of P. riparia in Australia (Verzonden: brom-l@science.uu.nl)
- Opmerking (10865): Carol Evans (2013-02-26) - could I tag them as green form and rubra form????
- Opmerking (10865): Uncle Derek (2013-02-27) - Only use Latin names if you describe a taxon under the ICBN rules. I suggest you call your plants grren leaf and red leaf (Verzonden: brom-l@science.uu.nl)
- Opmerking (10865): Peter Tristram (2013-03-07) - I got that source wrong, Bruce - it was me! I also have riparia grown from seed from Mick R, ex Ecuador was my understanding. Lots of slight variation on a theme. The stolons are a give-away before it blooms.
- Opmerking (10865): Peter Tristram (2013-03-07) - I'd say the other batch I mentioned is what Derek is referring too.
- Opmerking (10865): Carol Evans (2013-03-08) - Thanks everyone. I appreciate having ID for these 2 Pitcairnia. The green leaf form actually has red margins. Ross Little sent me a green leaf form, maybe it's different as there a no red margins ATM (Verzonden: brom-l@science.uu.nl)
