- Determinatie: Jeffrey Kent (2012-09-17) =Guzmania remyi X Tillandsia complanata
- This is a natural hybrid between these two genera. (Verzonden: brom-l@science.uu.nl)
- Opmerking: Uncle Derek (2012-09-18) - I have no comment to make on identity.
It would be best to leave as Guzmania barbiei until someone formally transfers it to xGuzlandsia. Note it was originally published by Rauh as G. barbieae. It has been recorded on the advice of Harry Luther as having putative parents of G. monostachia and T. complanata. I would suggest that this is at an evolutionary dead end, never to set seed. (Verzonden: brom-l@science.uu.nl) - Opmerking: Eric Gouda (2012-09-18) - Could any body make this cross and publish the results? (Verzonden: brom-l@science.uu.nl)
- Opmerking: Jerry Raack (2014-11-26) - I have this plant in my greenhouse as well. I obtained mine from Harry Luther back in January 2006. At the time, he wrote on the tag that it came from Bucay, Ecuador. So, my question is, are all plants now being grown under this name offsets from the original collection? Also, has anyone tried to self-pollinate this and then raise the seed to see if it comes true from seed? (Verzonden: brom-l@science.uu.nl)
- Determinatie: Eric Gouda (2014-11-27) =xGuzlandsia barbiei
- Has not yet been published, but I think it is a hybrid of Guzmania monostachia and Tillandsia complanata. We did grow it only a short period, but I never got seed in it.
Harry has collected a specimen in Naranjal EC and José near Quito, which he had in culture. It would be nice if somebody tried to make this hybrid him/her self. (Verzonden: brom-l@science.uu.nl)
