- The plant on the images belongs to subgenus Helicodea. B. fosteriana is in subgenus Billbergia. Billbergia brasiliensis is in Helicodea, but has blue petals. See images of these species on this site. (Verzonden: brom-l@science.uu.nl)

- Opmerking (11831): Alexander Linde (2017-08-03) - Possibly B. jandebrabanderi: similar to B. porteana with hourglass-shaped white ovaries but without black cusps, has got short triangular foral bracts and, a special stigma only known to me with 3 billbergia - blue/violet sepals. The holotype comes from Bolivia. See description (with picture) in Die Bromelie 2/2003 p33
