- Add Note: Peter Bak (2011-07-13) - Dear Estela,
this is not Vr duvaliana check our website www.bromelia.com for true Vr duvaliana and this is correct because I recently discused this with Elton Leme (Sent: bromelia-l@science.uu.nl) - Identification: Elton Leme (2011-07-14) =Vriesea aff. paraibica
- The photographed Vriesea is a much bigger taxon resembling a lot Vriesea paraibica, and also close related to Vriesea eltoniana and Vriesea flava, which grows in the Mantiqueira range, in altitudes over 600 m, far from the ocean, in Minas Gerais state on the border with Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. It is 3-4 times larger than Vr. duvaliana from Bahia which grow in low altitudes nearby the ocean, and not at all related to it. Please, give a look in the revision of this group by Andrea Costa.
(posted by EG) (Sent: brom-l@science.uu.nl) - Add Note: Eric Gouda (2011-07-14) - I think that the coloration of this specimen leads to the confusion, comparing it with the Morren Painting (Sent: brom-l@science.uu.nl)
- Identification: Eric Gouda (2011-07-14) =Vriesea interrogatoria
- Personal communication with Elton Leme: That Vriesea was identified by Costa as Vriesea interrogatoria, which is a good solution for the problem. (Sent: bromelia-l@science.uu.nl)
