- Identification: Guillermo Rivera (2010-02-12) =Tillandsia walteri
(Sent: brom-l@nic.surfnet.nl)
- Add Note: Walter Till (2010-02-15) - Unusually red and branched inflorescence! And: one "i" at the end of the
epithet is sufficient.
wt - Add Note: Peter Tristram (2010-02-17) - I don't think this plant is T walteri. It looks like a plant I also saw in Peru at various locations which has affinities to T rubella. It pups with stolons unlike walteri. An image of T walteri (orange bracts) from Nth Peru is added for comparison. There are other foliage and floral differences too I feel. - Add Note: Guillermo Rivera (2010-02-17) - The plant has been long identified for Llanganuco area as T walteri, unless the mistake has been carried for a while, ....i still believe it it T walteri
T rubella spike usually branches more that T walteri. In fact T walteri it is usually a single spike or just branched at the base
