13779 - Bromeliads (Wild) - 2018-03-22 (Dimension: 2030 x 1550 pixels - Counter: 6433) Tillandsia humboldtii? Locality: Ecuador, Loja Province - S03 40' 00.49" W79 15' 13.17", Elevation 3000 meters. Also found at other locations and at varying elevations between 1600 meters and 2800 meters. Photographer: Jerry Raack Note: There are 2 different plants pictured here. The first is pictures 1 and 3. The second are the remaining pictures. I believe they are the same species. Reason I believe this is that they are separated by a distance of only 19km, and they are growing at elevations of 2501 meters for pictures 1 and 3, and 2600 meters for the remaining pictures. Plants are the same size. They only grow epiphytically i the trees. Based on the size of Gilberto's head in picture 4, I believe the plant is about 60 cm tall with the inflorescence. Also note, the inflorescence coming into bloom at the bottom left of picture 1 is T. porphyrocraspeda. (Sent: brom-l@science.uu.nl) Identification: asked (Click on the picture to enlarge) |
