13752 - Bromeliads (Wild) - 2018-03-18 (Dimension: 1363 x 2050 pixels - Counter: 9000) Tillandsia walteri Locality: Ecuador, Azuay Province - Rd East from Banos (Cuenca) toward Cajais National Park at an elevation of 2941 meters. Also before this at an elevation of 2658 meters, and finally several times later in the trip in Loja Province at an elevation of 3137 meters. Photographer: Jerry Raack Note: This species is widespread in Ecuador and Peru where I have seen it in various environments, but mostly in drier areas. Often the foliage is in bad shape by the time it blooms due to some of the dry conditions it grows in. It can be terrestrial, saxicolous or epiphytic. It has a very beautiful pink to light red inflorescence. (Sent: brom-l@science.uu.nl) (Click on the picture to enlarge) |
