- Identification (13248): Matthias Asmuss (2017-02-18) =Cipuropsis
- if it's not new, formerly a Tillandsia or Vriesea (Sent: brom-l@science.uu.nl)
- Add Note (13248): Scott Sandel (2017-02-18) - ok, but species?
- Add Note (13248): Uncle Derek (2017-02-19) - Aren't we beating the gun. No species transferred as yet
Note:—Hitherto monotypic, but probably nine species. Since Cipuropsis subandina could not be included phylogenetically, the correct placement within subtribe Cipuropsidinae and the circumscription of the genus Cipuropsis remain uncertain. However, most probably the mesomorphic northern Andean ‘Vriesea’ species, V. alborubrobracteata Rauh, V. altomayoensis H. Luther & K.F. Norton, V. dubia (L.B. Sm.) L.B. Sm., V. duidae (L.B. Sm.) Gouda, V. elata (Baker) L.B. Sm., V. rubra (Ruiz & Pav.) Beer, and V. zamorensis (L.B. Sm.) L.B. Sm., and Tillandsia amicorum I. Ramírez & Bevil. belong here. Further investigations are needed to determine if Mezobromelia should be included. (Sent: brom-l@science.uu.nl) - Add Note (13248): Scott Sandel (2017-02-19) - Looks like Vriesea rubrobracteata. (Sent: brom-l@science.uu.nl)
- Identification (13248): Eric Gouda (2017-02-20) =Tillandsia schimperiana
- It will be transferred to Mezobromelia which is in the Cipuropsis clade.
