12794 - Bromeliads (Garden) - 2016-08-16 (Dimension: 830 x 690 pixels - Counter: 7800) Tillandsia tortilis 'Pueblo Hammeri' (Uploaded as: Tillandsia tortilis) Locality: New Zealand - Wellington - Anwyl Bromeliads Nursery, Pukerua Bay Photographer: Andrew Flower Note: January 1994 Morris Tarr gave me seed from a plant he had imported as "Tillandsia Pueblo x hammeri" - ostensibly, then, a hybrid. Seedlings are consistent, and self-fertile which raises the question 'hybrid?". The inflorescence has similarities to my plants of T. tortilis, but vegetatively it is noticebably lighter , more like the small forms of T. schiedeana, and scales much less dense. Does it look familiar to anyone? It is a nice little plant, and quite vigorous - tending back to hybrid origin, I guess!
