- Puya tuberosa (incl. P. hromadnikii, P. vallograndensis and P.
serranoensis). - Add Note (5337): Eric Gouda (2009-11-25) - Dear Walter, We cultivated Puya minima from Bolivia, Tarija Mountain. This seems to be an Alpine plant with a inflorescence less then 10 cm, but growing it in the garden (I will sow it again because it died) it developed exactly like Puya hromadnikii.
So again, I think there are many more names than species. (Sent: brom-l@nic.surfnet.nl) - Add Note (5337): Walter Till (2009-11-25) - I forgot to mention: see Vasquez R. & P. Ibisch (2007): Puya pachyphylla sp.nov. (Bromeliaceae) and new synonyms of Puya tuberosa from Bolivia. J.Bromeliad Soc. 57(3): 102-111.
- Add Note (5337): Andrew Raff (2009-11-25) - Can someone supply some clear photos of Puya tuberosa so I may compare with this plant. Although it appears similar the plant I have has a different bract form and also the petals are dark green and not dark purple; as appears with P.tuberosa. Whilst I do realise there can be differences due to a multitude of growing conditions there appears, with my plant, some strong differences to P. tuberosa.
- Add Note (5337): Walter Till (2009-11-26) - Dear Eric, you are right, these dwarf Puyas seem to be quite polymorphic (or have
morphological plasticity).
