- Add Note: Eric Gouda (2008-06-02) - It seems to be close to Puya ferruginea, but I never saw one with this very strange red color for Puya.
- Add Note: Dutch Vandervort (2008-06-02) - Looks exactly like the Puya ferruguinia I used to grow but -- is the red color true, or do we have a case of "flare" from the sun and the camera lens? The more proximal
flowers on the spike seem to have the expected ivory, or cream coloration for this species. The more distal ones show the dark coloration that my developing buds used to exhibit. - Add Note: Andrew Flower (2008-06-06) - Hmmmmm. This looks close to a puya that just flowered for me this summer (southern) - has the same green-blue petals, turning red at anthesis. My puya from seed supplied by Karel Knize (Peru) in 1992. I put it in for a casus since it seems a way from my casus 41 that was said to be P. ferruginea too.
- Add Note: Andrew Flower (2008-06-06) - Sorry - forgot to say that I keyed my plant AF92454 out through Smith & Downs and got to P. ferruginea.
- Add Note: Harry Luther (2008-06-09) - Im not surprised as P. ferruginea has a bit of synonomy!
- Add Note: Harry Luther (2008-06-09) - Im sure Puya ferruginea but an odd color. Mione are creamy green tinged or spotted with pale violet.
- Identification (1947): Eric Gouda (2009-08-05) =Puya ferruginea
- lets make it definitive :)
