Distribution: Brazil. Bahia, Pernambuco

Habitat: The drier region of northeastern Brazil, a mixture between Cerrado and Caatinga with its characteristic spiny vegetation, is inhabited by several Bromeliaceae, it grow dispersed or in small groups, over rupicolous formations and stony areas or inhabit sandy soils in open areas. img

Etymology: From the Latin word ferox = wild, referring to the clawlike teeth of the leaves.
