Distribution: Mexico: Oaxaca (Yautepec)

Habitat: Grows on ridges and slopes of igneous rocks forming extensive colonies of many isolated individuals, 500 - 850 m. Elev.

Etymology: The specific epithet refers to the yellowish red of the plants (figs. 1 and 2) of the species.

Phenology: Flowers from April to May.
